The study analyzes the socio-cultural dimensions of Child Rights Convention, International and National plans, policies/ legal provisions/ programmes in place, redressal mechanism and challenges faced as well as suggest measures to upscale the effective implementation for protection of children in India and Rajasthan. The research used systematic, quantitative and qualitative methodology. Implementation of Child protection services possibly is visioned as a multifloor building. An overhead tank is placed at top having executed and underground tank beneath the floor level full of planned child protection measures of the building and children are viewed at different floors of different categories. But due to leakage in systems along with corruption, bribery, Casteism, ecological surroundings discriminations, economic and social class, political interference and other ‘faltering seepages’ the advantage of provisions is not reaching children. It seems to be an urgent need to setup a proper and effective mechanism which not only is responsible for monitoring, implementation and documentation of child rights but is also able to guide concerned authorities for appropriate actions and measures to safeguard interests of and to prevent exploitation of children at family, societal and other institutional levels. Chapters comprise the problem, perception of childhood, Child Trafficking and Victimization, Child Labour, Role of Schools and family, Juvenile Justice System and conclusion and submissions. The study suggests commencement of Bal Suraksha Kranti Campaign in indispensable and holistic manner and is highly useful as a text for researchers, policy makers and planners. Read more
